About

My PhD is in astrophysics (that's me at 4200m on the summit of Mauna Kea in Hawai'i, about to start a night's observing), but since graduating I've been a computer scientist, a geneticist, a mathematician and most recently, people have been calling me a 'data scientist' which I guess is what I was all along. In the past 5 years I have got more and more interested in the planet nearest to me, and in particular applying the tricks I used to analyse data from NASA and ESA space observatories to study the Earth and in particular macroalgae and their adaptation/vulnerability to climate change.
