IPY: International Polar Year

All-island interdisciplinary team focused on planning towards the International Polar Year (IPY) 2032

GOALS.

In order to plan for Ireland's engagement in the upcoming International Polar Year 2032, this interdisciplinary planning team has been convened from institutions across Ireland. Our core aims include:

  • To gauge Irish interest in Arctic issues
  • To promote Arctic issues to relevant political and scientific stakeholders as well as the Irish public
  • To launch scientific events in the lead up to 2032
  • To create new and long-lasting Arctic national and international partnerships on core societal needs
